S9300/S9200 Primary Features

  1. Incorporation of a thin 18x optical zoom NIKKOR lens that covers a wide range of angles of view from wide-angle 25 mm to super-telephoto 450 mm (both equivalent in 35-mm [135] format) and enables a slim body
Even with their high-performance wide-angle high-power zoom lenses, the cameras are compact and slim for superior portability. These cameras can easily be taken anywhere to enjoy taking pictures of a wide variety of scenes utilizing the full power of the zoom lens.
  2. A backside illumination CMOS image sensor with an effective pixel count of 16.0-million pixels and a new lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) function achieve beautiful rendering even in dark or dimly lit surroundings
Equipped with a backside illumination CMOS image sensor with an effective pixel count of 16.0-million pixels, the noise that occurs with shooting at high sensitivities is effectively suppressed. In addition, the lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) function newly adopted for this model effectively reduces blur, even with shooting indoors or in dark places where camera shake often results in blurred photos, for clear, sharp photos.
In Night Portrait, Backlighting and Night Landscape scene modes, the benefits of the backside illumination CMOS sensor in terms of image quality with shooting at high sensitivities are utilized through the capture of multiple shots in quick succession, which are then combined and recorded as a single image. A series of images are captured at high speed and then combined to accurately produce the intended results regardless of the lighting conditions.
    -Night Portrait mode
Several shots are captured to reduce blur and noise in the background, and one shot using the flash is captured to ensure a bright portrait subject. These shots are then combined in a single photo with optimal exposure throughout. The portrait subject is brightly lit while the ambience of the background is preserved, enabling hand-held shooting of beautiful souvenir photos of a night at the amusement park or at a dimly lit indoor party with friends.
    -Backlighting mode
When the HDR (high dynamic range) setting is enabled in Backlighting mode with shooting of high-contrast scenes, the camera captures multiple shots in quick succession and combines them for a single photo with no loss of detail in highlights or shadows, and a broader range of tones.
    -Night Landscape mode
In Night Landscape mode, a series of images is captured and then combined into a single image in which blur and noise has been suppressed. This allows users to immediately capture beautiful night landscapes on the spur of the moment with hand-held shooting and no prior preparation.
  3. A movie function for recording full-HD movies with stereo sound and superior picture quality, and a new movie function that saves multiple scenes as a single file
The cameras are equipped with a new movie function that saves multiple movie scenes recorded intermittently as a single file and appears as a series with playback. Not only is it easy to record movies, but the ways in which movies can be enjoyed are expanded.
Just as with their predecessor, full-HD movies with stereo sound and a frame size of 1920 x 1080 pixels can be recorded, and optical zoom can be used during movie recording. What's more, dramatic movies recorded using the HS Movie function can be played back in slow motion at 1/2 or 1/4 the normal playback speed, or in fast motion at twice the normal playback speed for a comical effect.
  4. 3-inch, approximately 921k-dot TFT LCD monitor with wide viewing angle offers bright display under sunny skies and clear viewing indoors
The camera is equipped with a three-inch, approximately 921k-dot, wide-viewing angle Clear Color Display TFT LCD monitor that enables clear, crisp display. Display on the large LCD monitor is brighter, making shooting, viewing images, and applying settings easy under sunny skies or in rooms where light is reflected in the monitor. In addition, with a broad color gamut equivalent to the sRGB color space, even the finest details and textures are clearly reproduced in photos.
  5. GPS, electronic compass, log function, and POI display for recording location information and tracking routes during shooting (S9300 only)
The high-performance GPS and electronic compass acquire and record position information with shooting. This information can then be viewed in the camera monitor. The S9300 also offers a log function that tracks and records movement with acquisition of position information even while the camera is off, and point-of-interest (POI) data (approx. 1,700,000 locations) that can be used to record and display place names.

This lens is perfect for capturing landscapes and large group photos with coverage for angles of view for focal lengths beginning at the wide-angle 24 mm to the telephoto 100 mm (equivalents in 35-mm [135] format).
  2. A variety of shooting functions that enable capture of photos as intended
The camera is equipped with a number of shooting and in-camera image editing functions that allow users to enjoy mastering the camera with manual operations. Among these are the four exposure modes–[P], [A], [S], [M], nine special effects, and five filter effects.
What's more, the P310 beautifully preserves exciting scenes with high-speed continuous shooting of up to five shots at approximately 7 fps* at the maximum image size setting (16M 4608x3456).
    • *Continuous frame rate may decrease depending upon image quality and size settings, memory card type, or shooting conditions. Continuous frame rate decreases at an ISO Sensitivity setting of 3200 or Hi 1.
-9 Special Effects that can be applied prior to shooting
Images with the desired exposure and color adjustment can be captured with specification from the Special Effects menu prior to shooting. In addition to the Soft, High Key, Low Key, Nostalgic Sepia, and High-contrast Monochrome options available with the P310's predecessor, the P300, the P310 offers four additional options–a Selective Color option that results in black-and-white images in which only the specified color remains; a Silhouette option that creates silhouette photographs of subjects with a bright background; a Painting option that creates images that look somewhat like paintings; and a High ISO Monochrome option that creates monotone (black-and-white) images intentionally captured at high ISO sensitivities.
-5 Filter Effects for editing photos after they've been taken
The camera offers in-camera editing functions for simple image adjustment and enhancement without using a computer. In addition to the Cross Screen, Fisheye, Miniature Effect, and Painting filters available with the P300, the P310 offers an additional Selective Color filter effect.

Additional P510 Primary Features

  1. A 42x optical zoom NIKKOR lens with coverage for angles of view for focal lengths from the wide-angle 24 mm to the super telephoto 1000 mm (equivalents in 35-mm [135] format)
The Q510 is equipped with a 42x optical zoom NIKKOR lens offering the highest zoom ratio* in COOLPIX history. With coverage for angles of view for focal lengths beginning at the wide-angle 24 mm all the way up to the super telephoto 1000 mm (equivalents in 35-mm [135] format), the camera supports capture of a wide variety of subjects, from those that are too far away for effective capture with previous models to macro photography and wide-angle shots.
    • *As of February 1, 2012.
  2. Target Finding AF for the intended composition in sharp focus
With this feature, utilizing high-performance image analysis technology developed exclusively by Nikon, the user simply points the camera toward the desired subject and the camera instantly predicts the portion of the scene on which focus should be acquired and then selects the appropriate focus area and focus area size. As the active focus area is automatically specified in accordance with the size of the subject, resulting images are in clear focus. In addition, Target Finding AF not only works with subjects positioned at the center of the frame, but with off-center subjects as well. This capability is clearly exhibited with shooting of smaller subjects such as flowers, food, and the like.
  3. Improved Scene Auto Selector mode for automatic selection of 1 of 9 scene modes according to the scene and shooting conditions
The Scene Auto Selector mode built into the P510 is capable of more precise and specific identification of scenes than it was with previous models. With this feature the camera automatically identifies the scene and shooting conditions and then selects the optimal scene mode. Scene Auto Selector can choose from nine scene modes–two Portrait options, Landscape, two Night Portrait options, Night Landscape, Close-up, and two Backlighting options–but is actually capable of automatic identification of 16 scenes.
  4. A GPS function for recording shooting location information and tracking routes
Shooting location information acquired by GPS is recorded with images. When ViewNX 2 is used, a map showing shooting locations can be displayed in the computer monitor. The P510 also offers a log function that records movement over a specified interval as a log data even when the camera is not in use or is turned off, allowing users to preserve a record of their movement on vacation, for example, as a file that can be viewed later. What's more A-GPS files can be downloaded to increase GPS satellite acquisition time when the camera is turned on for smoother operation.
